Let’s get your Mac and TV talking.
Connect for the first time
- Turn on your compatible Android TV or Google TV and connect it to the same local network as your Mac.
- Open TV Steward and allow Local Network access when macOS asks.
- Select your TV, choose Connect, and enter the pairing code displayed on the TV.
- Open the remote from your Mac’s menu bar.
TV not showing up?
Make sure the TV is awake and its Android TV Remote Service is enabled. Check that both devices are on the same network. Guest Wi-Fi, client isolation, VPNs, or firewall settings can prevent discovery or communication.
If Local Network access was denied, enable it for TV Steward in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Local Network on macOS versions that provide that setting, then reopen the app. If the TV’s identity changed, verify the device before pairing again.
Remote control and TV care
Basic remote pairing is separate from management access. App launching and optional care require debugging to be enabled on the TV and this Mac to be explicitly authorized. Some TVs use separate wireless debugging pairing and connection ports.
Care actions depend on the model, firmware, and capabilities the app can verify. Disabling an eligible app preserves its data; uninstalling an app may delete data. Review each action before confirming it. Restore applies to supported changes recorded by TV Steward and may be unavailable if the TV has changed since then.
Only enable debugging on a trusted network, and turn it off in the TV’s settings when you no longer need it. Quitting TV Steward does not turn it off for you.
Compatibility
TV Steward is built for Apple silicon Macs running macOS 13 or later and compatible Android TV / Google TV devices. Consult the current App Store listing for release requirements. Volume, wake, input selection, and other controls vary between TVs. AirPlay and screen mirroring are not included.
Remove saved information
Use Forget for a selected TV to remove its active saved entry and pairing credentials. Maintenance records, previous registry backups, and exported files may remain locally. For help removing all remaining TV Steward data, contact us before deleting files. You can also revoke this Mac’s authorization in your TV settings.

Include your TV model, macOS version, TV Steward version, and a short description of what happened. Only share a report if you have reviewed its contents. Never send passwords or pairing credentials.
